On 17 July 2025, at the Residence of Japan in Gammarth, the Ambassador awarded the Order of the Rising Sun to three leading figures of cooperation between our two countries.
The 17th of July 2025 will remain a memorable date for our entire community.
At the Residence of Japan in Gammarth, the Ambassador of Japan conferred the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Rosette on three leading figures of Tunisia–Japan cooperation: Mr Adnene Khouaja, Mr Jamel Boujdaria and Professor Imed Ben Ammar.

This distinction is the highest awarded by the Japanese State to foreign civilians. It recognises a lifelong commitment to bringing Tunisia and Japan closer together — through culture, education, grassroots diplomacy and friendship between peoples.
In honouring these three individuals, Japan paid tribute to the whole Tunisian–Japanese community. AATUJA extends its warmest congratulations to the recipients and takes pride in counting such remarkable bridge-builders among its members.
