Who we are
The Tunisia-Japan Friendship Association (AATUJA) is a non-profit organisation that has, since 2012, been weaving and strengthening the bonds of friendship, cultural cooperation and economic partnership between our two countries.
Through events, seminars, workshops and exchanges, we showcase the rich heritage, traditions and modernity of both Tunisia and Japan, offering enthusiasts on both shores a lasting place to meet.

Taiko, ikebana, calligraphy, kimono, origami: we bring Japanese culture to life in Tunisia, and Tunisian culture to Japan.
Alongside the Embassy of Japan, the Embassy of Tunisia in Japan, JICA and our sister association, we nurture a relationship of trust between the two countries.
From Kendo to the TICAD Games, sport brings the youth of Tunisia, Japan and Africa together around shared values.
A language school, medical and academic exchanges, thermal tourism: concrete bridges between our societies.
2025 highlights
Osaka Expo 2025On 13 August 2025, AATUJA represented Tunisia at the Osaka Pavilion: a creation blending Djerba-Kerkennah percussion with Okinawa drums, and a 17-strong Kendo delegation.
DistinctionIn July 2025, three architects of Tunisia–Japan friendship — Adnene Khouaja, Jamel Boujdaria and Prof. Imed Ben Ammar — received Japan’s highest civilian honour.
TICAD GamesIn August 2025, AATUJA led a delegation to the TICAD Games in Yokohama: training camp, symposium and the launch of the Dojo project.
On 17 April 2026, at Espace Zmorda, AATUJA held its 2024 and 2025 Ordinary General Meetings together with an Extraordinary General Meeting. The related documents are available below.
During Ramadan 2026, AATUJA brought its members and their Japanese friends together for a convivial Iftar in the traditional setting of Dar El Lamma.
Members are invited to the association's General Meetings (2024 & 2025 Ordinary Meetings and an Extraordinary Meeting) on Friday 17 April at 11 a.m., at Espace Zmorda.
